Legendary Penfold winemaker John Duval began his apprenticeship in 1974 under the tutelage of the late great Max Schubert. Duval's family had been supplying Penfolds with fruit and root stock for generations, many of South Australia's most prestigious vineyards were sown with cuttings from Duval's family property. Duval was awarded International Wine & Spirit Competition Winemaker of Year and twice London International Red Winemaker of Year. David Wynn introduced cardboard wine casks, flagons and the Airlesflo wine tap to the nation. He is best remembered for re packaging the Coonawarra estate which bears his name and which endures as one of Australia's icon brands. Wynn was a master of his craft and studied oenology at the world renowned Magill wineworks. An astute marketer and talented blender, he also had a keen eye for the land, investing in the ancient John Riddoch fruit colony and planting vines on a challenging site, high atop the lofty latitudes of Valley Eden. Chardonnay Chablis France
The wines of Chablis are infused by the fossil rich, oyster shell soils, to be distinctly flinty with a characteristic mineral edge. The Premier Cru climats on the Cote des Vaillons however, are planted to a preponderance of compacted limestones, yielding a slightly fresher, floral and fruit driven style, a dash of minerality and lovely roundness. William Fevre own just under three hectares of Premier Cru Vaillons, treating the hand picked fruit to a combination of barrel ferments, sedimentary lees exposure and a year of age in a selection of well seasoned oak.

A family that has been in the Chablis region for more than 250 years, William Fevre's father was already a great winemaker

His son William founded the Domaine de la Maladiare and announced his first harvest in 1959. For many years, William Fevre (who to this day enjoys a very good reputation as a defender of historically renowned terroirs), has worked each plot keenly and skilfully so as to make wine whose personality reflects the authenticity of the soils from which they spring.

In 1998, the venerable Henriot family from Champagne succeeded him. To continue these focused efforts, the Domaine was taken up with the constant desire to make indisputably genuine and fine wines, and above all with bringing along a very personal expertise in Chardonnay. All the efforts have but one goal, to finely express the most subtle variations in the greatest Chablis crus.
