Johann Gottfried Scholz served in the Prussian army as a battlefield bonesetter, before joining the great emigration of Lutherans from Silesia to Barossa Valley. Mitchell distinguished himself in Wellington's army during the Napoleonic wars in the renowned 95th Baker Rifles.
