The latest Vintage from the early 1990s, 1991 is less formal than the 1992. While you might imagine this Vintage would be similar to the 1992, there is a world of difference. The hallmark Glenrothes characteristics are all there, but the emphasis is on vanilla, butterscotchy flavours. Enticing, open and refined it is lively and spicy on first meeting followed by a fruity voluptuousness and with water, liquorice and Demerara sugar evolve in a smoothing and rounded finish. "A calming and comforting dram, a leisurely walk in a luxurious garden!" -Whisky Magazine.
In 1879 something new, beautifully crafted and pure entered the world, the first spirit from the stills at The Glenrothes. Unlike Malt Whiskies that are produced in line with the age concept, each Glenrothes Vintage must have its own unique personality. It is important that each Vintage is underpinned by the distinctive hallmarks of the distillery, ripe fruits, citrus, vanilla, an exquisite spicy finish encased in the creamiest of textures with a complex, well-poised balance. Fortunately there still are casks of the 1991, so you can look forward to enjoying this for the next couple of years, at least. Try this with Chopin's Nocturne in D flat major
Appearance of autumn gold, clear and bright. Bouquet is rich, mature aromas, berry fruits, vanilla and whe chocolatr. A palate that is soft and mature, coconut, vanilla and butterscotch. A finish thats long, closing sweet with vanilla. "Always surprising in it's eternally emergent complexity from one nosing to another!" -Douglas McIver, “Fascinating as it develops with the benefit of time in the glass from one of initial surprising formality into full, soft herbal and fruity aromas rounded with oak, honey and with water liquorice. The characteristic Glenrothes fruitiness caresses the palate followed with a long and deliciously gripping finish!” Ronnie Cox
