Xavier Bizot can make wine anywhere he pleases, he is a Bollinger and grew up amongst the Vignobles Superieurs of Champagne. Bizot has chosen to make wine alongside Brian Croser's family, from grapes harvested off three magnificent sites, on two paradoxically varied terrains. Planted to the salubrious Terra rosa soils atop an invaluable archeological dig at Wrattonbully, rich with the undisturbed fossils of ancient Cenozoic sea animals, Crayeres Vineyard was established right across the road from Tapanappa's illustrious Whalebone. The weather here is astonishingly similar to Bordeaux and makes an awesome Cabernet Franc. Xavier Bizot and Lucy Croser are also fortunate to take their pick of properties in Adelaide Hills. To wit, Charles (Chilly) Hargrave's distinguished old vines at Summerton and a highly opportune slice of a slope on the lofty altitudes of Piccadilly Valley. It is here within the cooler climes where Xavier Bizot has found a terroir to emulate the Grand Cru of Vallee de la Marne & Montagne de Reims. Simply stellar harvests,.. Swings Roundabouts Kiss Chasey White 2011 CONFIRM 2011 VINTAGE

Margaret River Western Australia
An exciting blend of grapes which changes each year to accomodate the influences of vintage. Chenin Blanc and Verdelho, Chardonnay, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc may be called upon in varying proportions to construct a rejuvenating, crisp Margaret River white that's devilishly seamless on the palate, generous with good fruit and fine length, balanced by delicate acidity. It's been plainly named so you don't get caught up in the technicality. Kiss Chasey is revitalizing, youthful and relaxed, as easy going as the beachlife around Margaret River.
Swings & Roundabouts are headquartered in Margaret River, whence they call upon harvests of the finest fruit to fashion the essential West Australian style of white. Having earned a reputation as one of the region's leading winemakers, Mark Lane has pulled together a young and enthusiastic team to establish his dynamic Swings & Roundabouts label. Mark found his way to Margaret River in a roundabout way. For a while he made cheese in Melbourne, served apprenticeships in the Yarra Valley with the likes of Tarrawarra and Eyton before making the trek west to take up position as chief winemaker with Deep Woods and Flying Fish Cove wines.
Pale yellow straw with hints of green. Ripe and fragrant with honeysuckle, kiwifruit and ripe tropical notes. Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon contribute lift and refreshing verve to the wine. Chardonnay adds mouthfeel and creaminess. The palate is clean and zingy with some easy fruit sweetness balanced by a long, crisp finish. Enjoy now alongside a freshly tossed avocado and prawn, asparagus and citrus salad.

Margaret River’s micro climate is now well recognized as having great advantage for super premium wine crafting, unique soils, warm summers with cooling afternoon sea breezes and wet and cold winters make it grape heaven.

Mark Lane runs the show. He found his way to Margaret River in a roundabout way. For a while he made cheese in Melbourne. No doubt interesting, but why would you do that if you can do this! He gained winemaking apprenticeships in the Yarra Valley with the likes of Tarrawarra and Eyton-on-Yarra before making the trek west to take up the position of Chief Winemaker with Deep Woods and then Flying Fish Cove wines.

Mark Lane and the team are well credentialed, serious winemaking chaps who have, according to wine reviewer Ray Jordan won a “staggering list of awards”. But while stern faced about the wine itself, the rest is pretty relaxed. Margaret River is a cool and casual place to hang out so you’ll find the personalities here very friendly and far from intimidating.

Swings Roundabouts

Having developed a reputation as one of Margaret River’s leading winemakers, Mark has pulled together a young and enthusiastic team to establish Swings & Roundabouts…all keen to make a difference. He balances life by cooking, taking his teenage daughter to local concerts and driving fast cars fast. He enjoys a complete lack of interest in football (astonishing for a Victorian!) and music makes him happy (so the t-shirt says).

The estate's winemaking operation is also home, and it's been equipped with all that is important to the winemakers. A wood fire pizza oven, a serious coffee machine, lots of comfy leather sofas…and of course the wines. The vine-shaded verandah helps escape those hot summer days, with view over rolling hills, vines and kangaroos.
