Just a few kilometres north of Lowburn, near the windswept shores of frigid Lake Dunstan, atop the parched and laborious terroirs of Central Otago, a high country merino stud between the Amisfield and Parkburn streams was sown to vineyards two decades ago. Scotch Whisky
Muirhead means highest point of the moor, the history of the Muirhead Clan can be traced far back in Scottish history. Muirhead Distillery was established at Speyside in 1824 by Charles Muirhead, founder of the Glenmorangie Company and Macdonald & Muir. It has remained one of Speyside's most distinguished Single Malts ever since.
Soft, sweet and delicate with clean floral notes. Long and elegant with mellow tones. "Gorgeous, fragrant nose with lots of barley and a twist of smoke. Nuts and raisins follow as does a slight hint of mint. Well rounded mouth with lovely mellow character. Soft, sweet and delicate yet with grand flavours of malt and dried fruits. Great balance and long, well defined finish which is floral backed to the end!" -IWSC Panel of Judges
