Shiraz South Australia
George Wyndham became father of Australian Shiraz after planting the nation's first commercial Shiraz vineyard in 1830. The enduring Bin series is the most approachable range of wines within the Wyndham portfolio, high quality efforts which reflect the generosity of style which has made the Wyndham label famous. Once crafted by the legendary Nigel Dolan, Bin 555 has been refined into an elegant Shiraz exhibiting ripe fruit flavours, as supported by fine oak and sleek tannins, the long, persistent palate culminating in a smooth and lasting finish.
Parcels of Shiraz exhibiting intense varietal characters, essential for the Bin 555 style, are harvested at full maturity, the best possible harvests of fruit to produce a rich, round and generous wine with great depth of flavour and good solid structure. A temperature controlled vinification throughout ten to twelve days in a combination of static and rotary fermenters is managed to a strict cap management regime which extracts deep colour and rich fruit flavour while striking the optimal balance of tannin. Upon completion the finished wine is treated to maturation in a combination of predominantly American oak hogsheads for a year prior to assemblage. Alcohol 14.0%
