The mean gravelly soils and invigorating climes of Mount Barker of the Australian southwest, were identified during the 1960s by the world's leading viticulturalists, as a place uncannily similar to the great terroirs and clime of Bordeaux. The pioneering vines of Forest Hill were the first ever planted here, sired from rootstock of ancient Houghton clones, inaugurally vintaged by the illustrious Jack Mann in 1972. The Cabernet and Riesling of Forest Hill were promptly distinguished by multiple trophy victories and praised by gentleman James Halliday as the most remarkable wines to come out of the Australian west. Forest Hill have remained a source of the most profoundly structured, intensely focused, yet softly spoken range of wines. Powerful yet disciplined Cabernet, generously.. At latitude 45 degrees south, Central Otago is the southernmost wine region in the world. Snow topped mountains, rocky ranges and dry tussock hills, a place of climatic extremes, bitterly cold winters, parched soils and discouragingly poor fertility. Designed by the angels in heaven for sublime and stupendous vintages of Pinot Noir. At the very epicentre of the most desirable confluence in Central Otago microclimes is Nanny Goat Vineyard. Conspicuous for her serious weight of fruit, splendid structure and chewy, textural palate, Nanny Goat make a magnificently endowed style, offering the understated power and presence to accompany gourmet game sausages, meaty Mediterranean braises or char grilled rib... That's perfect for porterhouse»

The Story begins with Dr. Johann Siegert, born in Grob-Waldiz in Silesia. He studied at the University of Berlin and became surgeon general of Simon Bolivar's army during the South American liberation wars. Posted to the town of Angostura, now know as Ciudad Bolivar in Venezuela, Siegert became a skilled apothecary with medicinal herbs, plants and roots to cure sick and wounded soldiers. One of these remedies became known circa 1824 as Armago aromatico or aromatic bitters
A rich bronze colour with seamlessly smooth texture and well rounded, medium to full body. The bouquet is seductively rich with aromas of sweet molasses and vanilla, honey, spice and complex cognac notes. The palate offers mouth watering flavours of honey, and fruit, chocolate, spices and herb. The finish is remarkably long and packed with flavour
