Jack Mann reigns eternal as the greatest winemaker in the history of the Australian west. Jack Mann's son Tony grew up amongst the vineyards of Houghton but took a keener interest in things Cricket. He exelled at both pursuits but is best remembered as the legendary leg spinner Tony Rocket Mann. During his off seasons away from the pitch, Tony would plant parcels of vine alongside his illustruious father Jack and his own young son Robert. The fully grown Robert now makes his own wine, from fruit of the very vines sown by Jack and Tony Mann. Robert learned from his grandfather that great winemaking required a spiritual oneness with nature. The birds and the bees play a pivotal role in achieving a harvest of the most personable grapes. The ultimate quality of the ferments are decided by the character of yeasts as they populate the vine. So content is Robert Mann with the elocution of his fruit, that he chooses to barely age his wines in a selection of the mellowest seasoned oak. It's actually the Marri trees that point the way, marking out the soils by their very presence, which hold greatest promise for wine, made by Mr Mann... Whence the west was won»

Yabby Lake Pink Claw Grenache Rose CONFIRM VINTAGE

Grenache Heathcote Victoria
Introducing the pretty pink drink of the Red Claw range, by the founders of Yabby Lake, one of Australia's most dynamic winemaking ventures. Hand crafted from estate grown Heathcote Grenache and vinified to an uncompromising standard of excellence, Pink Claw was established to aid women affected by breast cancer. Quantities of Pink Claw are donated to fund raising events sponsored by Breast Cancer Network Australia. A limited allocation is available for retail, a portion of the profits will also go to BCNA.
Breast Cancer Network Australia works to ensure that women diagnosed with breast cancer receive the very best information, treatment, care and support possible, no matter who they are or where they live. BCNA is the peak national organisation for Australians affected by breast cancer. Harvests of Grenache are sourced from the Yabby Lake property at Heathcote. Grapes are pressed and spend up to twenty four hours on skins for extraction of flavours and colour. Juices are run off to fermenters for cold settling, racked and vinified to dry, followed by four months resting on lees where the wine develops textures and complexity. Pink Claw is bottled without any oak treatment, refreshingly fruit driven and dry.
Lipstick rose colour. Lifted strawberry aromas with a complexity of citrus, spice and floral characters. A crisp palate exhibiting red berry fruit, cherries, currant and srawberry over light tannins, before a refreshing, savoury finish. Pink Claw is bone dr, savoury and extremely food friendly, perfectly suited to modern Australian faire.

Yabby Lake
Yabby Lake Vineyard was established in 1998 on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, with the long-term goal of producing benchmark wines from the Burgundian varieties Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Yabby Lake Vineyard is owned by Robert and Mem Kirby who have been intimately involved in the Mornington Peninsula region for decades. The Kirbys are joined by two outstanding and renowned winemakers: Group Winemaker Tod Dexter and Consulting Winemaker Larry McKenna. Tod and Larry are known for their relaxed and unassuming personalities, and they apply the same approach to their winemaking: they work with the grapes to develop beautiful and distinctly superior wines that are truly expressive of Yabby Lake Vineyard. The first vintage from Yabby Lake Vineyard was produced in 2002.

Yabby Lake

Significant resources have been devoted to developing Yabby Lake's vineyard to the highest possible standard. Regional and national experts were consulted on every aspect of the vineyard's establishment from soil mapping to climate analysis to vine layout. Careful selection of plant clones has meant that the winemakers at Yabby Lake Vineyard now have a diversity of grapes to work with. Yabby Lake Vineyard is owned by the Kirby family and they are supported by a remarkable team who are equally passionate about the vineyard, the grapes, and their long-term goal of producing the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Australia.

The stunning Mornington Peninsula is a patchwork of small premium wineries and vineyards. Located 60 kilometres southeast of Melbourne, the region is virtually surrounded by sea and enjoys a cool maritime climate. Established in 1998, Yabby Lake Vineyard is planted on one of the regions premier vineyard sites.

Inspired by the classic wines of Burgundy, Yabby Lake Vineyard wines are a tribute to the unique Mornington Peninsula terroir, and the skills and experience of winemakers Larry McKenna and Tod Dexter. Their collaborative approach to winemaking, combined with Yabby Lake Vineyard's long-term commitment to producing the finest of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, have resulted in the creation of two remarkable wines.
