Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough New Zealand
Marlborough's only sparkling Sauvignon Blanc, Savee is a fully effervescent wine which expresses the exuberance of the region and the distinctive qualities of it's fruit. So much so that Savee has been referred to as supercharged Sauvignon Blanc by the industry press. The team at Mount Riley spend an enormous amount of time in the vineyard to determine those parcels of fruit which can best define the radiant Savee style.
The team at Mount Riley abide by the adage that good wine comes from healthy vine. Harvested from the best sites in Marlborough's Wairau Valley, grapes are crushed and destemmed prior to pressing and inoculation. Primary fermentation is induced by the introduction of choice yeast strains. Vinified in tanks at cool temperatures to preserve lifted aromatics, Savee handled to traditional techniques and treated to a secondary fermentation in bottle. The completed wine is taken off lees immediately after completion of the ferment to retain the bright, vivacious characters. Alcohol 13.0%
Pale straw in colour, an excellent mousse. Fresh and vibrant nose showing green pepper and elderflower, tropical fruit, gooseberry and melon characters. A fresh and lively palate with great weight of tropical fruit and green, vegetative, herbaceous elements, crisp acidity and a lingering finish. A splendid wine for celebrations and a good choice alongside fresh seafood or Al fresco cuisine.
