There were two scrub covered parcels of land, just outside Pokolbin village along McDonalds Road, that local council had long set aside for use as cricket ground and cemetery. Both were ultimately auctioned off to the highest bidders and sown to vine. A third undeveloped site became the subject of a long running feud among the new and old neighbours. Dodgy invoices between the rivals were exchanged and the division of firewood became a further cause of contention. A truce was eventually called by the two protagonists, Brokenwood and Hungerford Hill, for the sake of healthy viticulture. The nascent blocks achieved international renown as the eminent Cricket Pitch and the Langtons Listed Graveyard Vineyard, establishing Brokenwood as one of the most cherished marques in Hunter Valley wine... Kooyong Estate Kooyong Faultline Chardonnay CONFIRM VINTAGE

Chardonnay Mornington Victoria
Kooyong Estate was established with a view to craft the most articulate wines, minimal harvests from measured blocks which are defined by their eloquence. There's less than a half hectare of vines earmarked for Faultline, a place of propitious deep clay soils which yield Chardonnay of exquisite earthy characters, great depth and fuller, richer palate. Hand picked grapes are gently whole bunch pressed into French oak barriques for a spontaneous ambient yeast ferment, followed by a year's maturation on sedimentery yeast lees, bottled unfined and minimal filtration.
Yellow straw hues. Bouquet of maritime Mornington breeze, seaweed and iodine, preserved lemon and a touch of stone fruit, notes of ginger, struck match and lees derived richness. The long, linear palate is tightly focused around pristine citrus and stone fruit characters, hints of oatmeal and cashew, a luxuriously intense saline acidity.
