Whitehaven pride themselves on the quality of fruit. Vines are trained to three or four canes on a vertical trellis. Balanced pruning, shoot thinning, tucking and trimming are used to achieve an open, healthy canopy and clean fruit as the cool nights serve to retain acid freshness and delicate flavours. Grapes are harvested throughout the cool of night and pressed immediately with minimal contact on skins. After settling, the clear juices are vinified in fermenters at very low temperatures through the action of select yeast strains to preserve the distinctive regionally Marlborough varietal characters.
Crystal clear straw hue. Vibrant white currant, nettles and gooseberry aromas around a core of persistent grapefruit. Some pungent herbaceous and jalapenõ characters fill the background. The palate is full and vibrant, fresh nettle, gooseberry and tropical fruit flavours abound, lingering on the long, clean acid finish. A match with grilled snapper or asparagus recipes.
