Sauvignon Blanc Pipers Brook Rokeby Tamar Tasmania
Tigress is the second tier of wines produced by Bay of Fires Winery. 100% Tasmanian, the wines in the range are fresh, crisp, early drinking wines that aim to capture a sense of place; the true essence of Tasmania. As with the Bay of Fires range, fruit for Tigress is sourced across Tasmania, taking advantage of diverse viticultural conditions and enabling the selection of only the most premium parcels from each region. An intensely aromatic wine with a juicy, refreshing palate offering lingering herbal gooseberry fruit flavours.
Tasmania's latitude and island status confer a range of unique climates more closely resembling the classic winegrowing regions of Europe, than any other part of Australia. Hardy Wines has great interest in the vineyards of Tasmania, which yield genuine cold climate Sauvignon Blanc that make wines of elegance and finesse, excellent mineral complexity and persistence of flavour. The majority of the fruit for this wine was sourced from the Bay of Fires estate vineyards. The very cool climate of this site enables aromatic styles like Sauvignon Blanc to retain maximum flavour. The result is a wine of great intensity and persistence of flavour as displayed in the 2007 Tigress Sauvignon Blanc. Approx alcohol 12.5%
Colour is a pale straw with brilliant clarity. Concentrated aromas of herbal gooseberry, tomato and lychee, there are fine talcy bouquets indicating the rich earth of the vineyard, and sensational long ripening conditions of the local clime. On the tongue, Tigress shows a brilliant texture, light on it's feet yet warm and generous in it's offerings of snow pea and sweet grassiness, a trace of minerality and slight honeyness. A remarkably well structured, refreshing palate with juicy lemon acidity and herbal passionfruit flavours, showing exceptional persistence. Good length with a spicy, clean finish, this is a flavoursome and titillating Tasmanian Sauvignon to enjoy with freshly shucked oysters, and spicey fragrant Thai style dishes.
