Major Sir Thomas Mitchell left more than just an invaluable bequeth of our nation's most detailed frontier maps. Mitchell distinguished himself in Wellington's army during the Napoleonic wars in the renowned 95th Baker Rifles. A gifted draftsman, he found his way to the nascent colonies of Australia, where his acumen at mapmaking won him the office of Surveyor General. The essential Cotes du Rhone cepage, crafted almost exclusively from the Grenache of Grand Prebois and Syrah of Vinsobres. The inclusion of Mourverdre completes the holy trinty while contributing savouryness and pastoral charm. Filled with the fragrant fruit of Vallee Rhone and Mistral spice of Provence, Perrin Reserve makes a match with continental style grills and crumbed veal, slow braised joints and ham.

Perrin Pere & Fils have been drawning fruit from the finest vineyards along Cotes du Rhone since 1909. To this day they retain the choicest parcels to vinify into exemplary regional wines. Parcels of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah are sourced from Perrin estate properties at Grand Prebois and Vinsobres, as well as fine vineyards leased under long term contract. Within and around Grand Prebois, the soils are limestone gravel clays. Vinsobres is rich in quartz and limestone marls. Following the harvest, bunches are destemmed, followed by temperature controlled vinification. Batches are treated to a year's maturation in a combination of unwooded vats and seasoned oak Foudres before egg white fining and bottling.
Deep red colour The nose is all ripe fruits, plums and blackcurrant, liquorice characters, gingerbread hints and notes of violet The mouth is round, elegant, juicy and supple, with a predominance of fragrant liquorice, the tannins are polished and soft.
