Airline pilots make surprisingly good wine. Their appreciation of the sciences, a respect for the weather and a bird's eye view of the land, all invaluable to the winemaker's art. John Ellis would take every opportune weekend away from his regular New York Paris route, to pursue a passion for viticulture. He planted the first commercial Cabernet Merlot vines in the Hamptons and found time between trans atlantic flights to work vintages amongst the Grand Cru vineyards of La Bourgogne. Ellis ultimately made the great lifelong sea change in favour of our land downunder. He settled on a farmstead outside Leongatha, amongst the slow ripening pastures of Gippsland and established a vineyard called Bellvale. It is now a place of fully mature vines and old world.. It was a matrimony between an American biochemist and the founder of Margaret River Devils Lair, that set the scene for one of the nation's most illustrious estates. A member of the Top 1OO Wineries of World, Giant Steps were established 1997, with a view to assembling an elite range of limited release Yarra Valley vintages. Crafted from the fruit of superior sites, some yielding just a few hundred cases each year, these are exclusive editions from bespoke parcels of elite terroir, bearing the curiously cryptic monikers of precious blocks of vine, Gruyere Farm, Applejack and Wombat Creek. Vintages Of the Valley»
An Irish cobbler named Reilly settled into the tiny Clare Valley township of Mintaro circa 1856. He converted a stone barn into a homestead cottage. Reilly's Cottage served as the local cobbler's shop in the centre of the bustling town, which had boomed after the establishment of salubrious slate quarries. Almost 140 years later, the cottage has been restored to its former glory by relatives of Reilly, the family Ardill, once again it is a hive of activity, home to the eminent and award winning range of Reilly.. Established 2008 by one of the oldest winemaking dynasties in the colony of South Australia

A Kaesler family production, alongside equitable efforts by maestros Stephen Dew and Reid Bosward. The Watervale and Polish Hill vineyards were carefully selected due to their unique soil formations and the micro climates found in the respective vineyards. The primary varietals of Riesling, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon. Harvests are transported to the Kaesler wineworks in Barossa Valley for vinification. Riesling excels in Watervale and the Shiraz and Cabernet from Polish Hill represent some of the finest fruit found in the region.

The oldest vines are in their fifth decade. The Polish Hill vineyard Is a 30 acres (12 ha) block with 10 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon and 20 acres of Shiraz that was planted in 1999. The soils vary and are broken up into several varieties, an altitude of 360 metres and an average annual rainfall of 650 mm. Semillon and Riesling, Cabernet and Shiraz, Chardonnay, Malbec and Touriga National.
