Jane Mitchell is one of Clare Valley's leading wine industry identities, Clare Valley Legend and Clare Valley Winemakers Hall of Fame, Centenary Federation of Australia Medal, SA Tourism Commission, Australian Regional Winemakers Forum, Wine Federation of Australia Council and Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation Board. Mitchell's largest vineyard is at Watervale, a very bleak place in the middle of winter at pruning time. It is known by the vineyard workers as Alcatraz, a place to do penance in the cold, wind and rain of a Clare Valley winter. Alcatraz only ever yields minimal harvests, source of the most memorable vintages in our nation's.. These old clare valley vines are just getting better»
Established 1976, Clairault are one of the pioneering estates on Margaret River. A tastefully limited range, from elite vineyards within the very dress circle of prestigious wineries at the heart of Margaret River's most illustrious precincts, Wilyabrup, Yallingup and Karridale. These are the dearest winegrowing terroirs in the Australian west, a place of auspicious soils and stimulating climes, the motherlode of environmentals which yield the most august vintages on the continent. The team at Clairault take a decidedly pastoral approach, biodynamically grown and environmentally sound, a sanctuary to native flora and fauna, their vineyards are managed to a completely natural agriculture. So.. The kindly cabernet of clairault»
At latitude 45 degrees south, Central Otago is the southernmost wine region in the world. Snow topped mountains, rocky ranges and dry tussock hills, a place of climatic extremes, bitterly cold winters, parched soils and discouragingly poor fertility. Designed by the angels in heaven for sublime and stupendous vintages of Pinot Noir. At the very epicentre of the most desirable confluence in Central Otago microclimes is Nanny Goat Vineyard. Conspicuous for her serious weight of fruit, splendid structure and chewy, textural palate, Nanny Goat make a magnificently endowed style, offering the understated power and presence to accompany gourmet game sausages, meaty Mediterranean braises or char grilled.. That's perfect for porterhouse»
Longview are one of the most highly awarded wineries in Adelaide Hills, inducted into the South Australia Tourism Hall of Fame for their stately homesteads and the sublime excellence of their vintages. Flametree
At Flametree, the vision is to produce brilliant Australian wines of uncompromising quality and character

The Flametree is a spectacular Australian tree, in full bloom, a magnificent sight to behold. Interestingly it only comes into full flower when all conditions are favourable. The same is true of winemaking. To produce spectacular, wine all of the elements, from grape to glass, must come together at the right time.

Flametree

The Flametree Winery is located on the picturesque shores of Geographe Bay within the Margaret River winegrowing region. The team at Flametree select exceptional fruit to produce beautifully handcrafted wines with unique flavours, great depth and fine structure.

The Flametree philosophy is an elegant yet laid back approach to wine, ensuring that whenever you enjoy a bottle of Flametree it is a relaxed and enjoyable experience. The Flametree Cellar Door has been designed to capture the essence of the beautiful beachside locale. A selection of Flametree wines are available for tasting each day and all of the range including new vintage releases and a selection of limited release wines can be enjoyed over a bottle of wine in beautiful landscaped gardens.

A new state-of-the-art winery was completed in 2007. The winery is a reflection of a commitment to excellence, the design ensures minimal fruit handling and a significant investment has been made in acquiring equipment and technology that maintains the integrity and purity of fruit. A selection of French oak barrels are used to mature the wines, with a little American thrown in to add diversity as required.

Given the favourable climate conditions of the southwest, night cooling is employed to keep the barrel room temperature controlled. The system kicks in when the external temperature reaches 18 degrees Celsius or less. Any warmer internal air is sucked out and the cool night air is allowed to flow into the building. This system minimises refrigeration requirements and environmental impact. A custom designed environmental waste water treatment system means that all of the water used in the winemaking process is recycled and used to irrigate vines and surrounding landscape.

Flametree is a highly meritorious winemaking estate that works very closely with some of the Margaret River's most dedicated growers. It is truly amazing to see a new winery claim such an impressive string of reputable awards, so early in their career, immediately upon their label’s debut appearance around the Australian wine show circuit. Flametree's commitment to excellence is the driving force which sees the quality of their wines gain stature with every vintage. The Flametree team's passionate approach is rewarded by accolades and the respect of peers. The philosophy at Flametree is to make wines that express the quality of the fruit sourced and to strike the right balance between flavour and structure.

Flametree is home of the 2008 Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy, Australia's most highly prized accolade for wine. Flametree was honored with Trophies for best red and best blended red (as well as gold) for the very same Jimmy Watson winning wine at the 2008 Qantas Wine Show. Flametree also beat hundreds of entries to win the best dry table red wine in a David and Goliath-style battle at the IGA Perth Royal Show awards.
