Boutique winemaking affords great advantages, every vine can be uniquely husbanded, quality control is maximised, each barrel can be individually sampled and assembled into the perfect cuvee. Engineering types are innately suited to such viticulture. Colin Best embarked upon his sabbatical to the great vineyards of Burgundy's Cote d'Or. He returned to plant Pinot Noir on a craggy half hectare near Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills. An ancient masonry wool mill was outfitted for winemaking and Leabrook Estate was born. Wicks Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2017 CONFIRM 2017 VINTAGE

Shiraz Adelaide Hills South Australia
The Adelaide Hills make elegant yet solidly structured Shiraz. A number of individual parcels and rows on the Wicks estate vineyard are separately picked according to ripeness, treated to the rigors of hand plunging and pumpover, followed by a gentle press into a selection of seasoned and new French oak barriques for a term of age before the final, artful assemblage. A beautifully proportioned style of Shiraz, fleshy of red currants and dark indigo plum, juicy and plump yet chiselled and refined, wrapped around a framework of nimble brambleberry tannins and lithely spiced, nutmeg cedar oak.
