Halls Gap Vineyard was planted 1969, along the steep eastern slopes and parched rocky crags of Grampians Ranges, at the very beginning of a renaissance in Victorian viticulture. Since early establishment in the 1860s by the noble Houses of Seppelt and Bests, the region had earned the most elite peerage, a provenance of extraordinary red wines, bursting with bramble opulence and lined with limousin tannins. The Halls Gap property had long been respected as a venerable supplier to the nation's most illustrious brands. Seppelt and Penfolds called on harvests from Halls Gap for their finest vintages. Stephen George grew up amongst the grape vines, very near the hamlet of Reynella and the nascent Skillogalee in Valley Clare. Both salubrious sites which were originally planted to vine by George senior in 1970. Crafted from parcels of hand picked fruit, gently pressed and treated to indigenous yeast ferments, followed by six months of luxurious, lees stirring battonage in a selection of the finest French oak. A satiating melody of jasmine florals and lemon curd richness, over lovely creamy textures, Olivia's Paddock strikes the perfect balance between bold fruit character, fawning oak and crisp orchard acidity.

Witchmount Estate has been making some of Victoria's most consistent quality driven wines for many years, winning numerous medals and trophys, particularly for Shiraz. Many hours are spent in the vineyard and winery in order to produce the finest wines possible. Heart and soul are poured into the vintage each year and have been rewarded with a multitude of trophies and awards from all over Australia and the world. The person directing the Witchmount team is Vigneron Tony Ramunno. Growing up on the property he knows every vine personally. Actively involved and overseeing all processes he has also employed a quality team of industry professionals to ensure the success of his dream.

Chief Winemaker Stephen Goodwin was successful in his field long before he joined us and he has worked at many of Australia’s best wineries including Seppelts Great Western and Baileys of Glenrowan. He is unsurpassed for both experience and skill as a winemaker and has been an integral part in the development and success of the exceptional Witchmount wines available today.

Winemaker’s assistant and jack-of-all-trades Adrian Marchioro has many years experience in a vast array of positions within the wine industry. Involved in everything from sales and marketing to special events and of course the dirty jobs around the estate, Adrian shows passion for all things Witchmount.
