One of our nation's enduring winemaking dynasties, the Hamiltons planted vines just outside Adelaide in 1837. Great grandson Sydney Hamilton was a legendary and innovative viticulturalist, he ultimately made his own oenological conversion to the sacred Terra Rosa soils of Coonawarra in 1974, establishing one of Australia's most distinguished vineyards on a highly auspicious site, naming the property after forebear Lord Leconfield. An exceptional value for Cabernet of its class, presaged by a vigorously perfumed berry punnet nose, syrup textured, stately and refined, Leconfield makes a compelling.. Established 1908, Redman's Coonawarra are still made by the Redman brothers from fruit grown to the original family parcels. The tradition began 1901 when Bill Redman, at the tender age of fourteen, made the journey to take up an apprenticeship at the John Riddoch wineworks and to labour amongst Coonawarra's founding vineyards. Bill Redman's earliest vintages were sold off to other companies but it was not until 1952 that the Redman family released their own wines under the moniker Rouge Homme. Redman was finally branded under its own label in 1966, it remains one of the most enduring marques in Coonawarra. Husbanded by the 4th generation, parcels from the.. Marc Brédif was a pioneer and leading winemaker, he made a great contribution in bringing the wines of Vouvray to the world. Baron Patrick de Ladoucette acquired Domaine Marc Brédif in 1980 and continues the tradition, crafting wines in the same way under the original cellars, from fruit grown to the very same local vineyards. Chenin Blanc is assembled from choice sites, grapes are hand picked off vines growing to clay, chalk and silica soils. Parcels are treated to a pneumatic press, the exclusively free run juices are treated to a day or two of cold soak. Batches are vinified in fermenting vats for two months at a controlled 18C, followed by nine months maturation on sedimentery yeast lees before bottling.
Golden straw hue. Nose of green apples and stonefruit, honeyed citrus, acacia florals, hawthorn and fig. Generously layered palate, valencia orange and ripe apple, pine nuts and fragrant orange blossom notes before a complex, long and lingering finish of honeyed citrus and pear. Will accompany all fine cuisine, a great match to recipes which call on camembert and brie.
