The mean gravelly soils and invigorating climes of Mount Barker of the Australian southwest, were identified during the 1960s by the world's leading viticulturalists, as a place uncannily similar to the great terroirs and clime of Bordeaux. The Dugat family have been growing grapes and making wine in Gevrey-Chambertin since the days of the Three Musketeers. Domaine Dugat-Py now own and operate five hectares of the finest Climat in the entire commune. Vieilles Vignes is a bottling of hand sorted Pinot Noir grapes, picked off biorganically managed vines up to fifty years of age, treated to a traditional ferment and eighteen months maturation in completely new oak barriques.
