Hurtle Walker first picked grapes as a ten year old on the celebrious Magill property in 1900. It doesn't come any better than Beenleigh, the original Aussie Rum from the first Brisbane sugar mill, established 1867. Within a few years, there were thirty mills in the vicinity, a floating Rum Distillery, the SS Walrus would drift along from one mill to the next, converting the by products of sugar manufacture into bootleg Liquor. Beenleigh Port Rum is treated to five years of age in small Brandy vats, followed by transfer to Port Barrel for eighteen months. Unravelling layers of complexity, filled of glorious Muscat and Port characters through to the soft, aromatic finish.
