Gewurztraminer Clare Valley South Australia
Gewurztraminer grows beautifully along the rolling hillsides of Clare Valley. It is here that choice clones of Traminer have taken very well to the soils and climes that are so similar to growing conditions in Alsace, whence this piquantly flavoured varietal originates. Fashioned to express the bold flavours and vibrant aromas of fully ripe Gewurztraminer, while reflecting the pastoral charm and fragrant grace of the picturesque, undulating landscapes in Valley Clare.
Traminer grapes fare very well when grown to the highly favourable climes of Clare Valley, developing mild spices and nut, orange, lychee and citrus blossom characters. An exclusively estate grown wine, fruit is harvested in the cool of night, gently de-stemmed and whole berry pressed as quickly as possible to retain freshness. The pure free run juices are cold settled and transferred to fermenters for a controlled, low temperatures vinification, inoculated by a specialist yeast to enhance varietal expression. Upon completion, components are assembled, stabilised and fined. Minimal handling and filtration is employed throughout vinification to ensure the delicate varietal characters are protected. Alcohol 13.0%
Pale straw hue, subtle green at the edge. Lifted aromas of rosewater and lychees with a touch of spice and lemon zest. The palate delivers equally pleasing flavours of fresh lemon juice, rosewater and a touch of spice. Taylor exhibits great delicacy with a mouthwatering acidity on the back palate which delivers a crisp, clean finish. Enthusiasts of the luscious honeyed fruit so distinctive of aged Gewürztraminer will be rewarded as the wine evolves.
