Three British Army officers, in their capacity as agents of the East India Company, established one of Western Australia's first agricultural enterprises in 1836. Named after Captain Richmond Houghton, it was not until Thomas Yule's stewardship that vines were planted and the first vintage of Houghton wine flowed in 1859. Thomas Yule now sources fruit from the eminent Justin Vineyard in Frankland River, a dark ruby Shiraz of lifted liquorice and intense brambleberry, seasoned by piquant pepper notes and supported by showroom tannins. After founding Mornington's eminent Moorooduc Estate and decades crafting the most memorable vintages for Mornington's leading brands, Richard McIntyre established a tiny, single hectare vineyard, on a prominent, high elevation site at Arthur's Seat, with a view to producing limited yields of the most exquisite small batch wines. The techniques of choice are wild yeast ferments, minimal intervention and good French oak, with a nod to traditional Burgundian practices, which allow the wines to speak of provenance, express their specificity of clone and articulate their sense of place. An essential inclusion for small batch Pinotphiles in the know, there has never been a more limited release of a marvelous Mornington marque... Limited editions by the master of moorooduc»

Rockbare RB1 Barossa Shiraz CONFIRM VINTAGE

Shiraz Barossa South Australia
RockBare was born out of a passion to make great wines out of the nation's most invaluable parcels of vine. The people of Rockbare work to a belief that wine should tell a story about the terroir whence it originates, that the vines deserve lots of love and care, that the winemaking process should be the subject of minimal handling to allow the vineyard to do what it does best. Perfumed of melty rich dark chocolate, the ripest blackberries and blue plum flavours will have you reaching for another glass before the first is even half gone, made for food, suitably attired alongside a smartly dressed lamb.
