Located in the illustrious arid flatlands of Douro Superior, Quinta do Vesuvio is a legendary property, identified as far back as the 16th Century. In the 19th Century under Dona Antonia Ferreira, the wines of Vesuvio wines gained a peerless reputation for quality and excellence. The only style made from this Quinta is Vintage Port, only in years that meet the most stringent quality requirements. Vintage 1994 was assembled in the spring of 1996, fewer than 3,000 cases were released, bottled exclusively at the Quinta.
Dark inky colour. The nose exhibits an outstanding concentration of floral and ripe fruit aromas with hints of bitter chocolate. The palate shows massive structure and offers superb grip, endowed by distinctive berry fruit flavours and purple olive/rancio characters. The immense concentration of flavours continues over a long, long finish.
