Chardonnay Margaret River Western Australia
Proponents of the uniquely West Australian genre in old world styled red and classic dry white, Vasse Felix take a highly artisanal approach to sparkling wine. Treated to the full regimen of Methode traditionelle, a pure Chardonnay cuvée, crafted according to vintage conditions and the character of harvest. Blanc de Blancs is luxuriously aged on yeast lees for two years prior to riddling and disgorgement. A profound and memorable experience for the most discerning enthusiast.
Vinified from choice parcels of fruit, picked off a small block of Chardonnay vines on the Vasse Felix Karridale property, only slightly south of Margaret River. This unusual section of Chardonnay stands out for its unique structure and flavour profile, ideally suited to the Blanc de Blancs style. Only a tiny volume was made. Chardonnay grapes are hand harvested and whole bunch pressed, the majority of parts are sent to oak for a course of rich barrel ferments. Upon completion, batches are assembled and filled to bottle for a secondary vinification in true Methode traditionelle. Two years of bottle ageing and remuage on yeast lees contact is followed by disgorgement and liqueur dosage.
Refined effervescence, golden hues. Lemon sorbet bouquet, lanolin, lavendar and mozzarella notes. A luscious, fresh entrance to the palate, bursting with voluminous yet refined creamy mousse. Delicate and pure with crunchy green apple characters and a squeeze of lemon before a lavendar brulée finish. The dry, chalky, mineral edge is balanced by subtle creamy textures and judicious measure of dosage liqueur.
