Warramunda
Warramunda Estate are unwavering in their commitment to produce wines which reflect true love for the land and passion for excellence

Warramunda means tomorrow, the long term vision of managing a sustainable, productive vineyard. Warramunda produce bespoke wines, which truly reflect the natural expression of Yarra Valley's Coldstream region. Ted Vogt purchased the original Warramunda property in 1975 and operated a cattle sheep stud. In 1980 the property was extended by an extra 320 acres. Yeringberg Creek ran through the land, a large dam was built in 1981 which now supports three vineyards and a grazing property. Ted’s son was a scientist with a passion for soil, he had the vision to redevelop Warramunda and establish a first class vineyard in 1998. The early harvests of Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, Marsanne, Viognier and Shiraz, were sold to local wineries including the illustrious Yering Station.

Warramunda

Warramunda Estate repackaged its first vintage behind its own label in 2013. The inaugural release exceeded all expectations and blazed the trail for a premium range of bespoke, handcrafted wines, a superior expression of the region, the vineyard and quality of fruit. Twenty three rows of Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot were added as part of an ambitious plan to produce a sophisticated Bordeaux blend. Warramunda Estate wines reflect a sensational terroir, a distinct place in which they are grown, the tireless work in the vineyard is vital. Covering some fifty five acres, the work focuses on providing the vines with the optimum ability to produce impressive fruit every vintage, regardless of the weather and the conditions.

The position and attributes of the vineyard are close to perfect for the varieties that Warramunda grow, vines are north facing on a downward slope, providing essential drainage down to the flats of Yarra River. The property is just a short distance from Warramate Hills, nestled amongst a neighbourhood of distinguished vineyards, Oakridge and Yeringberg, Yarra Yering and Coldstream Hills.

Much of the estate straddles bedrock composed of sedimentary sandstone and a series of sub and topsoils. The soil is relatively acidic but quite porous providing favourable drainage. Northerly aspects ensure the vines receive maximum sunshine exposure which is essential for balanced grape development and vine growth.

Warramunda

Warramunda Estate’s wines appeal equally to the learned connoisseur and those new to wine. The wines are bursting with personality and drinkability yet will cellar well should you prefer a more mature wine. Warramunda Estate wine is made from fruit grown exclusively on the home estate and only the best barrels will be bottled for each variety. This means the quantities can vary each year depending on the vintage and natural expression of the fruit. The philosophy is to work on intuition and connection to place, honed through experience and tempered with the assurance of skilled winemaking science. The vineyard team spend a considerable amount of time attending to every vine in each vineyard block, to ensure plantings are healthy and yield a bounty of the finest harvests. It's all designed to bring a range of delicious, perfectly balanced wines to all those who appreciate the endowments of nature and the fruits of the land.
