Coonawarra cattle graziers since 1906, the Reschke family turned some of their land over to viticulture in the 1980s. Reschke now keep the pick of crop for their own label, the most princely harvests of Coonawarra Cabernet, Merlot and Shiraz, characterised by their defined regional eloquence and ingratiating palate weight. Fattoria Zerbina Ceregio Sangiovese - Buy
Sangiovese Romagna Superiore Italy
The Fattoria Zerbina wineworks are located at Faenza in south eastern Emilia Romagna, near the base of the Apennine Mountains which separate Emilia Romagna from Tuscany. Their vineyards are the most splendid in all Romagna, and their wines are widely acknowledged as the region's finest.
Fattoria Zerbina's vines are planted to calcareous, clay and limestone soils with south east and south west exposure, on the Vigna Capanno, Malvone, Montignano Pazzo and Sopra Vicchio estate vineyards. Plantings are at an average density of 2800 per hectare for the Sopra Vicchio site, 3600 at Malvone and 8300 on Montignano and Capanno. Exclusively Sangiovese di Romagna grapes are all hand harvested, the bunches carefully selected and destemmed. Fermentation and maceration is carried out in steel vats with skin contact under temperature controlled conditions for twelve days. Following completion of natural malolactic, the wine is reated to six months unwooded maturation prior to bottling.
Dense ruby red with a hint of purple in it's youth. Intense and persistent aromas of wild berry fruits over nuances of violet. Fresh and lively cherry fruit flavours dominate this medium weight dry red, pleasingly drying tannins and a long savoury finish with a hint of amarognolo. Serve with game meats and dark poultry, fungi porcini or pungent, hard cheeses.
