The Heathcote Wineworks were one of the first commercial wineries in central Victoria. Prominently placed along Heathcote's main boulevard, established by Thomas Craven in 1854 to cater for the huge influx of gold miners seeking their fortune. Thomas Craven was a purveyor of spirits and wine, he traded in gold, providing a lifeline to local prospectors. An entrepreneurial type, he also operated a coach service from stables behind the cellar door, despatching supplies and delivering mail around the central Victorian goldfields. Just a few kilometres north of Lowburn, near the windswept shores of frigid Lake Dunstan, atop the parched and laborious terroirs of Central Otago, a high country merino stud between the Amisfield and Parkburn streams was sown to vineyards two decades ago. Grazing country makes magnificent viticulture, the austere alluvial and glacial schist soils now yield the quality of Pinot Noir which has defined Central Otago as the world's most demonstrable marque in full bodied, intensely complex, yet beguilingly seamless Pinot Noir. Argiano Brunello Di Montalcino DOCG CONFIRM VINTAGE

Sangiovese Montalcino Italy
Since 1888, Montalcino's finest Sangiovese grapes have been devoted to Brunello, one of the world's most renowned red wines. Argiano selects fruit from its noblest vineyards, to be vinified and aged in the most extravagant oak. A full year in French 225 litres barriques builds structure and integrity, followed by eighteen months in larger Slovenian oak casks to ensure the concentration of flavours are beginning to soften just as the wine is bottled.
Famed for their longevity, the wines of Brunello di Montalcino are crafted with a view to keeping flavours as vivid, accessible and appetising as possible. Juices are vinified on skins for two to three weeks in fermenters. Upon completion, batches are treated to a natural malolactic, largely dictated by seasonal influences, over the course of a few weeks or months. Wines are matured two and a half years in a combination of barriques and larger format oak, followed by the final assemblage, bottling and a further term of ageing.
Intense ruby red colour. An alluring bouquet of violets and black berries, captivating perfumes of vibrant red fruits. Good concentration to the mid palate, a cleanliness and freshness of luscious fruit characters and persistent aftertaste, well rounded, supported by silky smooth tannins. Brunello combines power and elegance inn optimal balance, drinking brilliantly upon release while offering the structure for extended development.
