The mean gravelly soils and invigorating climes of Mount Barker of the Australian southwest, were identified during the 1960s by the world's leading viticulturalists, as a place uncannily similar to the great terroirs and clime of Bordeaux. The pioneering vines of Forest Hill were the first ever planted here, sired from rootstock of ancient Houghton clones, inaugurally vintaged by the illustrious Jack Mann in 1972. The Cabernet and Riesling of Forest Hill were promptly distinguished by multiple trophy victories and praised by gentleman James Halliday as the most remarkable wines to come out of the Australian west. Forest Hill have remained a source of the most.. Softly spoken wonders from the west»
Some precious old blocks of ancient vine Grenache still remain after a government sponsored program to cull unproductive vineyards during the 1980s. Yielding excruciatingly small harvests of the most characterful fruit, these wizzened old veterans deliver small batch vintages which are evocative of the old world classics from Cotes du Rhone. The enduring Wirra Wirra were established 1894, their eclectic range belies the splendour of small parcels which are separately handled and bottled for exclusive release. The Absconder draws fruit from vines planted a century ago, it merits a breathing and decant, an articulation about the sublime excellence of old vine.. The compelling case for old vines grenache»

Yarran Heathcote Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 CONFIRM 2016 VINTAGE

Cabernet Sauvignon Heathcote Victoria
Yarran of Yenda are a Riverina operation with the scope and initiative to source the pick of Heathcote's harvest, for a Cabernet Sauvignon of exuberant bouquets and palpable weight of fruit. Following tours of duty across progressive winegrowing regions as disparate as California's Sonoma Valley and the vanguards of viticulture in China, Sam Brewer has developed an eye for identifying bespoke vineyard parcels of outstanding merit and potential. A forward drinking style of Cabernet, lined with aromatic French oak and supported by a length of refined, silky tannins.
Creative winemaking and a consuming passion to preserve the provenance of fruit, as influenced by the vagaries of terroir and clime, drive the Yarran team to set higher standards at every vintage. With each passing year, the wines of Yarran continue to evolve into more profound editions, an articulate expression of nature, sunshine and soil. Parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon are crushed and settled for a term of cold soak for optimal extraction of flavour, colour and tannin. Batches are inoculated and treated to a course of vinification before transfer to a selection of French oak barrels for completion of ferments and extended maturation, followed by assemblage into the finished wine.
Deep scarlet red. Cassis and blueberry bouquets, suet and festive cakes over a background of mintyness, fragrant varietal leaf and cedar spice. Black berry and currant flavours, well supported by silken textures and a framework of integrated French oak, its refined stately tannins and long elegant finish, make Yarran the wine of choice to match with marbled scotch fillet or succulent garlic leg of lamb.

Yarran
Yarran Wines are quiet achievers, growing finer and finer quality fruit for over three decades, delivering outstanding quality and value for discerning enthusiasts in the know

The Yarran tree is best recognised by it's lustrous yellow blooms and dark fragrant wood, it is found extensively throughout the Riverina region and once grew abundantly on the vineyard from which Yarran Wines now source their fruit. Wine grapes have been grown on the Brewer family vineyard for over thirty years. Estate patriarchs Lorraine and John established their property to viticulture, after their son's keen interest in winemaking inspired enrolment at Charles Sturt University. The Brewer vineyards and winworks have since grown, from producing a single site Shiraz in 1998, to many different varietal table wines, rich fortified blends and a classic Riverina Botrytis Noble Rot.

Yarran

The vineyards, winery and cellar door are all located in the Riverina sub region of Yenda. The area can be proud of a long tradition in winegrowing, dating back to 1913, it is renowned internationally for producing world class, high quality wines. Yarran Wines is a community owned and operated winery. All the winery staff are either shareholders, stakeholders or family. Lorraine Brewer remains actively involved in administration, while co-vineyard owner Jim Maier produces fruit and manages the vineyard. Before joining the family business in 2009, Sam Brewer gained much international experience after working vintages in the Yarra and King Valleys, California's Sonoma and the exciting new viticultural precincts of China.

The Yarran range of wines have perfomed exceptionally well on the wine show circuit. The portfolio covers everyone's favourite styles, the aim is to make wines showing lifted varietal fruit character.
