Gary and Nick Farr are father and son, they make wine together but aren't afraid to go head to head when their opinions differ. Nick grew up amongst some of the world's most sacred vineyards, he knows about the land and found a magnificent little site, barely east of Lake Colac. Irrewarra is the vigneron's shangri-la, prepared for viticulture by generations of grazing and eons of the sobering south sea breezes, which stimulate vines to yield meagre harvests of parched little grapes, sleek of tannin and rich in flavour. Vintaged in excruciatingly limited lots, there are fully two styles of Irrewarra on offer, a grapefruit and oyster shell Chardonnay, a Pinot.. It's irrewarra by farr»

He took up work in the Barossa and ultimately settled in for a lengthy engagement at B Seppelts and Sons, where he played a significant role in the vinification and maturation of some of the most memorable vintages in Australian viticulture. Jack Mann reigns eternal as the greatest winemaker in the history of the Australian west. Jack Mann's son Tony grew up amongst the vineyards of Houghton but took a keener interest in things Cricket. The fully grown Robert now makes his own wine, from fruit of the very vines sown by Jack and Tony Mann. Robert learned from his grandfather that great winemaking required a spiritual oneness with nature. The birds and the.. Whence the west was won»
The 1890s brought boom years to the nascent Aussie wine industry, as connoisseurs throughout Europe and the Empire were introduced to the Dionysian delights of new world Claret by Tyrrell, St Huberts and Wirra Wirra. An enterprising family of Scots took heed of the times to plant grapevines on a uniquely auspicious block in Valley Clare, they called it St Andrew and produced forty vintages of the most sensational quality Claret until the 1930s. The Taylor family acquired the fallow farm in 1995 and brought St Andrew's vines back to life. Antinori Toscana Santa Cristina IGT CONFIRM VINTAGE

Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Shiraz Tuscany Italy
One of the oldest winemaking firms in the world, Antinori first commenced production at Tuscany and Florence circa 1385. The majority of Antinori vineyards are located in Chianti Classico. With the passage of the 1984 DOCG laws, Chianti Classico grapes became so complex and rich, that they needed more ageing than the fresh and fruit driven Santa Cristina could bear, to maintain its character and style. Santa Cristina moved away from the Chianti Classico designation, by including components of Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah to the firmness of Sangiovese.

The wines of Villa Antinori originate exclusively from the Antinori Estates in Tuscany. Only those grapes born and raised, ripened, harvested and vinified in the estate cellars are labelled Villa Antinori. Fruit is sourced from vines which have developed maturity, elegance and a distinctive Tuscan personality. Following a destemming and soft crush, the Sangiovese and Merlot grapes are treated to seven days maceration in fermenters, during which time the wine completes primary ferments at temperatures no higher than 25C. Parcels are racked and treated to malolactic, followed by several months ageing under the Santa Cristina cellars at Cortona. The finished wine is bottled after a light clarification and filtration.
Ruby red colour with purple hues. Complex aromas of currants and blackberry, cedar and spice, violets and mince. Vibrant ripe fruit bouquets with a floral complexity. Well structured and harmonious with seasoned savoury elements, the introduction of Merlot to Sangiovese has brought softness and new fruit. Immediately approachable uponn release, a generous fruit driven Tuscan with judiciously drying finish to accompany traditional Italian cuisine and all full flavoured faire.
