Shiraz Margaret River Western Australia
A rich and concentrated effort with driven fruit and silky tannins, defining a style of it's very own. Small batch fermentation and sensitive winemaking practices are employed to allow quality of fruit from to be fully expressed. An impressive Margaret River wine which continues the evolution of Shiraz at Voyager Estate.
After years of focused viticulture, trimming and irrigation strategies, Voyager have struck a balance in plantings that once grew wild, allowing vines to concentrate their energies on quality grapes rather than plant growth. This ensures that the fresh primary fruit characters are retained, avoiding any over ripe jammy flavours which Shiraz is prone to developing. Treated to inoculation and vinification in a collection of traditional open fermenters, temperatures are maintained at around 26C to 28C thereby protecting aromatics and extract a lesser amount of the harsher tannins. Following completion of ferments, Voyager is matured for a year in a combination of new and seasoned French and American oak barrels.
