An ongoing resurrection of some fabulous old vines, a distinguished Blewitt Springs site and a range of the most spectacular McLaren Vale wines. When Kelly and Bondar acquired Rayner Vineyard in 2013, they knew that everything depended on the management of site and soil to achieve the excellence of wine they had in mind. The most fastidious husbanding regimens and a tightly scheduled evolution towards organic viticulture, the propitious Rayner vines have never yielded finer harvests, all translating into a tour de force across the entire Bondar range. Salient quality and penurious pricing make for a compelling mix. Old vines grown to salubrious soils, the harvest timed to perfection, a precision picking of fruit at just the right hour of day, aimed at capturing and bottling the exquisite expression of place. Bondar's graceful Grenache releases are brimming with bright tri-colour fruits, delicately laced by genteel acidity. There's very little that comes out of Central Otago which isn't thoroughly spectacular. Super Nanny represents the best of the very best, a very limited release edition, vinified from a parcel or two, hand picked and scrupulously sorted off the most splendid rows on Nanny Goat Vineyard. Whole bunches and cold soaks, hand plunges and a gentle press, a luxuriously high proportion of new oak for malolactic and age. A seductively dark brooding bouquet, savouryness and meat, dutch chocolate underbelly, rhubarb and plum, a taut mineral line over toothsome, gummy tannins.

At latitude 45 degrees south, New Zealand’s Central Otago is the southern most wine region in the world

Alpine mountains to the west, rocky ranges to the south and dry tussock covered hills to the east dominate the landscape, and all assist in the topographical elements of this most exceptional of terroirs. In between all of this grandness, on the lush valley floors are nestled the Nanny Goat Vineyards.

This is a region of climatic extremes, with typically very hot summers, short autumns and bitterly cold days in winter. The soils are rocky with poor fertility. All of these conditions are perfect for producing world-class Pinot Noir. The unique terroir of Central Otago produces wines with incredible intensity and distinction. Nanny Goat Vineyard focuses solely on Pinot Noir.

Nanny Goat Vineyard Pinot Noir is all about finesse and layers of complexity. The fruit is the focus and it is encouraged to express itself. Nanny Goat concentrates on making wines that show varietal and regional cherry fruits, with oak balance and tannin structure.
