James Allardice established GlenDronach Distillery in 1826, it has since passed through the stewardship of Scotland's most eminent Whisky producers, Walter Scott, Charles Grant and William Teacher & Sons. Many of the original buildings are still functional, one is haunted by a Spanish woman who arrived in a Sherry cask.
