John Glaetzer was right hand man to the legendary Wolf Blass throughout the breathtaking sequence of Black Label Jimmy Watson victories. Ben Potts learned his trade at the oldest family owned wineworks in Australia Bleasdale, established by the larger than life Frank Potts in 1858. Inspired by the classic, pure varietal wines of Burgundy and the Rhone, Red Claw are a tribute to the unique terroirs of Mornington, as cultivated by the skills of the eminent Yabby Lake viticultural team. Their collaborative approach and deep commitment to producing the very finest, has crystallized into vintages of the most remarkable wines.

For everyone at Yabby Lake, respect for the soil and reverence of the growing season are an essential part of making great wines. The combination of a warm site in a cool region means that Pinot Gris ripens in good order to produce wines of outstanding quality. The favourable microclimes translate into fully ripened fruit harvested to idyllic conditions. Pinot Gris is hand picked and whole bunch pressed. After settling, batches are racked for vinification. Upon completion of ferments, parcels are held on sedimentery lees and stirred fortnightly to build textural palate richness.
Pale straw, greenish hues. Complex aromas, hints of honey and hay, lychees and a touch of spice. The palate leads off beautifully textured and rounded, following through with an array of complex and delicate floral nuances, oranges and sultana, lychee and cut hay notes. Sweet fruit is enhanced by a clean, crisp lingering finish.

Yabby Lake
Yabby Lake Vineyard was established in 1998 on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, with the long-term goal of producing benchmark wines from the Burgundian varieties Pinot Noir and Chardonnay

Yabby Lake Vineyard is owned by Robert and Mem Kirby who have been intimately involved in the Mornington Peninsula region for decades. The Kirbys are joined by two outstanding and renowned winemakers: Group Winemaker Tod Dexter and Consulting Winemaker Larry McKenna. Tod and Larry are known for their relaxed and unassuming personalities, and they apply the same approach to their winemaking: they work with the grapes to develop beautiful and distinctly superior wines that are truly expressive of Yabby Lake Vineyard. The first vintage from Yabby Lake Vineyard was produced in 2002.

Significant resources have been devoted to developing Yabby Lake's vineyard to the highest possible standard. Regional and national experts were consulted on every aspect of the vineyard's establishment from soil mapping to climate analysis to vine layout. Careful selection of plant clones has meant that the winemakers at Yabby Lake Vineyard now have a diversity of grapes to work with. Yabby Lake Vineyard is owned by the Kirby family and they are supported by a remarkable team who are equally passionate about the vineyard, the grapes, and their long-term goal of producing the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Australia.

The stunning Mornington Peninsula is a patchwork of small premium wineries and vineyards. Located 60 kilometres southeast of Melbourne, the region is virtually surrounded by sea and enjoys a cool maritime climate. Established in 1998, Yabby Lake Vineyard is planted on one of the regions premier vineyard sites.
